Curriculum focus
Whole school
The school's curriculum encourages excellence through the nurture of intelligence, creativity, independence, perserverence and a respect for scholarship.
Kindergarten
The Kindergarten offers a programme that fosters social, physical, cognitive and personal growth in a happy and creative environment. Children explore, experience and learn through play and a structured programme which develops the foundations for learning in early childhood.
Junior Schools
The curriculum concentrates upon the development of literacy and numeracy skills while recognising the importance of individual expression and creativity through art, drama, music and dance activities. Personal development is integrated into the curriculum by creating a supportive environment so that all students are happy to attend school and are enthusiastic about learning. Foreign language study (Chinese) is included at all levels. The Outdoor Education programme commences at Year Four.
Middle Schools
A broad range of core and elective subjects is offered to provide the requisite knowledge and skills for subsequent study as well as opportunities for personal development. Students pursue different interests with meaningful, comprehensive and useful study while developing a sound general knowledge of cultural history.
The curriculum is systematic in its approach to learning and emphasises the development of academic goals within a broader programme and a supportive school environment. Students' progress is carefully monitored and study skills' development is incorporated.
McNab House
In Years Eleven and Twelve the emphasis is upon the pursuit of academic excellence as preparation for tertiary study or employment. Students study for their Victoria Certificate of Education (VCE) and an extensive choice of subjects is available. The school has an established reputation for the high achievement of its students at this level. Students should expect to be challenged and extended by their school work and yet to receive intrinsic reward and enjoyment from their pursuit of knowledge and understanding.
All students are guided towards the pursuit of effective study habits and a high level of pastoral care is maintained.
