Situated at the East Keilor Campus, McNab House is the co-educational senior college of Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School. Students at McNab House study for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE).
The VCE is a two year programme of study which includes Years Eleven and Twelve. Each school year is divided into two semesters and students are required to study units of work at both levels.
For Year Eleven entry students must have fulfilled the conditions outlined in the promotion policy for Year Ten and carry the recommendation of their Year Ten subject teacher before proceeding to the corresponding subject area.
Programmes of Study
Year Eleven
In Year Eleven all students are expected to study six or seven of the subjects offered at McNab House and to participate in recreation classes. This course of study may include a maximum of one subject taken at the Unit 3/4 level. Two units of English are compulsory. Students should also carefully consider their Year Twelve course of study before selecting their Year Eleven subjects. Students who wish to enrol in subjects other than those offered at this school must do so in addition to the full programme of six or seven subjects studied here.
Year Twelve
In Year Twelve all students will be expected to study at least five subjects (ten units) at McNab House. These must be arranged in two-unit sequences. Eligibility for entry to courses at this level is determined by the results gained in Year Eleven and the recommendations of Year Eleven teachers.
