Curriculum in the Middle Schools

Year Level	Core Subjects	Elective Subjects
Year 7	English Mathematics Science History Art Religious Education Physical Education Geography Music	Students must choose one European and one Asian language from the following: French or German and Chinese or Indonesian
Year 8	English Mathematics Science History Art Religious Education Physical Education Geography Music	Students must choose two of the following (including one language): Chinese French German Indonesian Visual Communication & Design
Year 9	English Mathematics Science History Art Religious Education Physical Education	Students must choose three of the following (including one language): Chinese French German Indonesian Latin Geography Information Technology Music Visual Communication & Design

 

Year 10
Core Subjects	Elective Subjects
Students in Year 10 will take: English Mathematics Core Science One History, either   History: Rebellions & Revolutions   - or -   History: Hot Wars, Cold Wars One Language Other than English, from   Chinese   French   German   Indonesian   Latin One Creative Arts subject, either   Art  -or-   Music Physical Education Study Period	Students must choose two from the following: Art (if not taken as a core subject) Australian and International Studies Business Studies Geography A second History   History: Rebellions & Revolutions   - or -   History: Hot Wars, Cold Wars Information Technology Literature Other LOTEs   Chinese   French   German   Indonesian   Latin Music (if not taken as a core subject) Science Elective Visual Communication & Design

 

Notes: All students must take Core Science. They may also select Science Elective as one of the two electives. All students must take one History. They may also select the other History as one of the two electives. All students must take one Creative Arts subject, either Art or Music (if it had been taken in Yr 9). They may also select the other Creative Art as one of the two electives. If a student did not take Music in Yr 9 he/she may take it as an elective only. All students must take one Language Other Than English. They may also select other LOTE subjects as part of the two electives.

Please note that an elective will only be offered at a campus if sufficient student interest is shown.
