English Week

Students at both Middle school campuses enjoyed a variety of activities during English Week, which was, once again, held after the Semester One examinations. Year 7 and 8 students participated in spelling quizzes with words selected from their spelling booklets while Year 9 students competed in a literature and general knowledge quiz based on texts studied from Year 7 onwards. Published poet, Lorraine Marwood, helped Year 7 students write different styles of poetry; and authors, Simon Higgins, Jane Godwin and Sue Lawson, worked with Year 8 and 10 students with their creative writing skills. Writing produced in these workshops is assessed and a winner is chosen for each level. The winning pieces will appear in the yearbook. Year 9 students enjoyed ‘Impro Zone’, a performance inspired by the skills and games of Theatresports, by the Impro Melbourne Company; and some participated in a small workshop.
