Boori Monty Pryor Visits Year 4 Girls

The girls were left in stitches when Monty Pryor visited the Park Street library to talk to the Year 4 girls about his book ‘My Girragundji’. He entertained them with stories from his childhood, and what it was like to be an Aboriginal boy living with seven sisters and three brothers.

After having studied the novel in Term 3 to complement their Indigenous Studies unit, the girls were able to see how Monty wove fact and fiction together to produce a heart-warming and very entertaining novel that has been turned into a play, and will soon be made into a tele-movie. He spoke fondly of his beloved tree frog, and told many funny stories about how he harassed his siblings with squashed mosquitoes and hid snakes in their pyjamas. The girls did not stop laughing as he recounted the tale of his victorious battle in his cot with a taipan that was attempting to steal his milk. His energy, warmth and enthusiasm were infectious, and the audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
