Author/Illustrator Jan Ormerod visits PEGS

On Tuesday 25 August, as part of the Children’s Book Week Celebrations for 2009 author/illustrator Jan Ormerod, visited the Junior Schools and spoke to students in years 2, 3 and 4.

Jan brought original artwork from her book 'Water Witcher' and explored with the children how the illustrations were made and which elements and pictures were included in the book and which were rejected. 'Water Witcher' is based on Jan’s own family history and her grandfather’s talent as a water diviner.

The children asked Jan many questions about her work. They found out that she developed her artistic skills through lots of practice, that her favourite book is always the one she is currently working on and that she has contributed to over 80 books.

Jan was very impressed by the quality of the PEGS students’ artwork which she saw displayed around the school.
