National School Tree Day

As part of the school camp’s commitment to sustaining the environment, on Friday 31 July, students from 8W (boys) participated in the National School Tree Day, to plant approximately 100 native indigenous seedlings here at camp. Our students were among approximately 200,000 other primary and secondary school students across Australia to participate in the day. Here are personal accounts from three of the boys:

"Planting trees was an awesome experience because we knew that we are helping the environment and it was great to get my hands dirty! The small trees that we planted are going to grow into large, beautiful trees. It's going to be wonderful to see how they have progressed next year." Anthony Bevinetto

"Today was National School Tree Planting Day. At camp we found an empty area of land and planted baby trees. I didn't like getting my hands dirty, but I did feel satisfied - I was giving new life. We dug small holes, put the trees in and protected them with plastic guards. Each of us planted three trees to help make the Australian landscape look as beautiful as it should be." Nicholas Lodge

"It was good to get our hands dirty on National Tree Planting Day. I liked the fact that I was helping the environment and making camp nicer. Each of us planted three beautiful trees." Lachlan Senior
