Penleigh Presbyterian Ladies’ College - 100th Annual Speech Night
Tuesday, 7 September 1971, saw the students, staff and parents of the Penleigh community gather at the Dallas Brooks Hall in East Melbourne to celebrate the one hundred years that had passed since Mrs Elizabeth Tulloch established her Dorset House Ladies’ School in Mount Alexander Road. From there, under a succession of distinguished Principals, the school moved to Chaucer Street in Moonee Ponds, where it was known as Ascot Vale Girls’ High School.
1922, after its name had already been changed to Penleigh Girls’ school in 1912, was the year when the Principal, Miss Lilian Limerock, with her sisters, Miss Elma and Miss Muriel, purchased Wahgunyah in Park Street and moved her students and staff into the spacious new residence.
