Private music tuition
Private music tuition is offered in a wide range of instruments along with group music theory lessons. Private tuition is simultaneously a separate programme of the Music Department as well as a necessary and important link between practical (performance) and academic (classroom) approaches to music.
Tuition is available to all school students from Preparatory to Year 12. Students in Prep and Year 1 are offered tuition in piano and violin using the Suzuki method of instruction. Traditional teaching methods begin in Year 2 and students from here onwards are able to choose from an increasing variety of string, wind and percussion instruments together with piano, synthesizer, guitar and voice.
Group music theory lessons are offered for those students who wish to pursue it as a separate study or as a support to their practical music. Tuition is available to students in Year 5 and above.
