School
Leadership

Kate Dullard

PRINCIPAL

Kate Dullard has served as Principal of Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School since 2020. From her earliest days at the school, she has embraced life beyond the classroom—whether on the sidelines at Saturday sport, in the audience at performances, or in conversation with students, staff, and families. She values these moments of connection as central to the strong sense of belonging that defines the PEGS community.

At the heart of Kate’s leadership is a deep commitment to learning and academic excellence. She is passionate about evidence-based teaching, raising student achievement, and building staff capacity to ensure every student can thrive. In 2019, she was awarded the prestigious Menzies Fellowship, which enabled her research into collective efficacy—how teachers working together with shared purpose drive student success. This research led directly to the creation of PEGS’ Adaptive Leadership programme, which has since expanded to include other local schools and continues to strengthen leadership capacity across the profession.

Kate also contributes to the wider sector as a Board Member of the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria and as a member of the State Executive of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools. Guided by the school’s REACH values, she believes that academic excellence is achieved when curiosity is encouraged, care is evident, and students are truly known.
