About Our School

Developing intellectual curiosity, scholarship and potential

At Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School (PEGS), the opportunities afforded of a large school are paired with the personalised attention of smaller, autonomous sections. We value each student’s unique journey and cultivate a learning environment that encourages curiosity and excellence.

We welcome students at multiple entry points, beginning with our co-educational Kindergarten in Essendon.

Years Prep to Six are offered at our Junior Schools – girls in Moonee Ponds and boys in Essendon – where we foster accountability through nurturing respectful and responsible learners.

Our Keilor East campus is home to the separate McNab House for girls and Gottliebsen House for boys (Years Seven to Ten), as well as the co-educational Larkin Centre (Years Eleven and Twelve), where students are empowered to take greater ownership of their learning and personal growth.

Our structure supports the benefits of single-sex education during childhood and early adolescence alongside a coeducational environment in Kindergarten and the critical VCE years. We encourage students to actively participate and use their voice, reflecting our value of accountability and fostering leadership skills. Beyond the classroom, our extensive co-curricular programs nurture sportsmanship, creativity, community spirit, and leadership – demonstrating excellence and heart in action.

We take pride in offering a high-quality, broad curriculum that celebrates diversity and inclusivity, underpinned by our unwavering commitment to the care and wellbeing of every student. Through the lens of REACH, we strive to develop not only scholars but also compassionate, curious, and responsible citizens prepared for lifelong learning and meaningful contribution.
