Care and Wellbeing

A safe and inclusive culture where each person is known, valued and supported is central to a PEGS education. We know that wellbeing supports good thinking and learning. Our focus on wellbeing helps our students to flourish and enjoy school life to its fullest.

In order to provide the very best in care and wellbeing, we ensure that all students are known through our sectional structure.  Each section has a dedicated care and wellbeing team that foster a culture of individual and community care.

Guided by our values, we spend time ensuring that students understand the need to be accountable, as well as the need to interact with each other, and the environment, in a respectful manner.  Through our policy of Mutual Respect and our Bystander Code of Conduct, we help to teach young people of the impact that they can have on others and encourage these impacts to be positive in nature.

Heart is the notion that members of our community show kindness, courage, and empathy in their actions.  Through our professional learning programme, our staff maintain a currency of knowledge regarding best practice when it comes to supporting young people through their journey into adulthood.  With bespoke wellbeing programmes across the school, we aim to support families with the tools they need to support their child from Kinder to Year 12.

Our teaching staff are ably supported by specialist staff; including a team of psychologists and speech pathologists.  These allied health professionals ensure that students are cared for and supported when needed.  Our chaplain team also supports students as they face the challenges that adolescence can bring.

As well as their classroom teachers, students are also supported by dedicated coordinators that work with students and their families to provide individual support to students, and also to tend to the pastoral needs of each year level.

Our school  embraces equality, diversity, and inclusion.  We have built a community that values each individual, and we ask them to contribute to our community through a range of community service and social justice initiatives that reflect who we are.
