The Role
Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Turf Groundperson to join our Facilities Team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our sports fields and turf areas, ensuring our students have access to safe, high-quality playing surfaces. Responsibilities will include mowing, fertilising, irrigating, aerating, and managing pests and diseases, as well as assisting with the ongoing presentation and upkeep of the School's grounds. The role also requires strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations when operating equipment and handling chemicals, together with maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities.
This is a full-time ongoing position with an opportunity for an immediate start and will be based across our Keilor East Campus and Keilor Park Sportsground. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 3.00pm, with one RDO per month. Additional weekend and out-of-hours work may be required from time to time to support the operational needs of the School.
Reporting to the Grounds Manager, you will work both collaboratively as part of the Facilities Team and independently across a range of turf management activities.
Requirements:Â
- Certificate III in Turf Management
- Experience operating and maintaining turf maintenance equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Physical ability to perform manual labour and operate equipment
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
- An understanding of and commitment to the safe storage and handling of chemicals, including pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers
- A valid Working With Children Check (employee) and current satisfactory criminal record check
- A medium rigid heavy vehicle licence or a willingness to obtain it would be an advantage but not required

Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School has nearly 3,000 students from K-12 at campuses in Moonee Ponds, Essendon and Keilor East. The Keilor East campus is a large, busy campus housing secondary students from Years 7 to 12.Â
